Bethlehem, November 30, Dr. D. Walter Straub, one of this city’s leading physicians, died in the Hahnemann hospital, Philadelphia, following an operation which was performed last Friday. Dr. Straub was 66 years of age and resided at 78 West Market Street. He was born at Lehigh Gap, the son of Levi and Leah Boyer Straub, and following his attendance at the Lehighton schools entered the Hahnemann medical college, from which institution he graduated in 1877. For the next two years he was attached to the staff of the Blockley Hospital, Philadelphia, going from there to Shenandoah where he remained until twenty four years ago when he located here. While a resident of Shanendoah he was president of the Triple County Medical Society. Dr. Straub was an active member of the Lehigh Valley Homeopathic Medical Society, holding the offices of president and secretary at various times. He was a member of the consulting board of the State Homeopathic Hospital at Rittersville and of the American Institute of Homeopathy. He was a member of the Bethlehem Club until two years ago. He held membership in the Central Moravian Church. He was married to Miss Laura LaBarre, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse LaBarre, of Slatington. Beside the widow there survive four children, Mabel, wife of Frank E. F. Farquhar, Lexington, Kentucky; C. Lee, Los Angeles, California, recently returned from Manila; Homer W., Philadelphia, and Violet L., wife of Gordon Richardson, at home; 10 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Louis Buck, of Ashley. His brother, Dr. Elmer Straub, a noted physician, died at Minersville, last May.
