In Patrick Hanna’s will why wasn’t Robert Hanna named. The names were John, Joshua, Samuel, Archibald, Martha, Rosanna. There wasn’t any mention of Robert.
Also BTW Samuel Hannah did not die until later. He married Mary Brady, Archibald Hannah married Margaret Brady. Hugh & Hannah Brady were neighbors. There is a lot of info on Brady family site.
I have the same question, Patricia. My husband is descended from Patrick, 1699>Samuel, 1743>Ebenezer, 1771>Samuel B., 1802>James Ebenezer,1823>Andrew Jack, 1849>James Ebenezer 1879, who is his great grandfather.
I have the same question, lol. I am descended from Patrick 1699> Samuel C 1743 > Samuel C Jr 1775> Samuel Peter 1805 > George William 1838 > Samuel Peter 1868 > James Monroe 1900 who was my great grandfather. I also have no mention of Robert.
Robert migrated to Westmoreland County. He was one of the first JP’s and operated the first Courthouse west of the Alleghenies. Is it possible that he received funds to do that from his father?
William Eger, son in law, married to Martha Hanna (no William Hanna), Roseanne Hanna married to Moses Stuart (Stewart), gave birth to Andrew Stewart, Rose cited in will of Andrew Stuart 25 Apr 1754, Patrick Hanna, witness. Roseanna died shortly thereafter. Andrew Stewart listed as private 1778 – 1783 Westmoreland militia.
if you are trying to accomplish a novel, good job. Hannas of Sorbie state that Patrick left for America with brother Robert. I surmise since I can’t find Robert or entry number for him that died at sea and his young son would have been cared for by Patrick, it is a Scottish tradition to mention all children including those who have made it their own way. Since there is absolutely no mention of Robert, even though Ohio Valley Geneaologies and Dobson’s book has him as a son, the only explanation is Patrick’s brother Robert has died at sea and he lived with Patrick until he could go off on his own, I’m also that his father left an inheritance for him when he was of age.
