Pierce type); 2 Firms in Essex County, in each of which he was senior and leading partner; Member, Essex Lodge of Free Masons; Deacon, First Baptist Church; President, YMCA; Member of Salem City Council in 1860; Member, Salem Oratorio Society; Director, Mercantile National Bank; Director, Essex Mutual Insurance Company; Director and one of the Founders of Salem Electric Light Company.”
