By Jerry Hurt

Harvey Harrison Hurt, son of James Lindley Hurt, was born in 1915 in Center, Colorado. He married Virginia Pearl Kopfman and had two sons and one daughter, Harvey David Hurt, Jerry Scott Hurt, and Virginia Sue Hurt. He was a very loyal and loving father.

My Dad was a farmer raising mostly potatoes, later he was in the farm supply business and then before retirement he worked in a Veterinary Supply Store. After his retirement he volunteered as a school crossing guard, and office clerk at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Harvey had an interest in old cars, especially his Model A pickup, which he drove out of the show room, brand new, when he was working as a grocery delivery boy in Center, Colorado. He later bought the truck and restored it to nearly new condition. He and one of his brothers, Allen Hurt, ran the Ford garage in Center. (years unknown)

He died in 1993 in Fort Collins, Colorado. His remains were cremated and the ashes scattered along the Rio Grande River over his daughter’s property in the San Luis Valley, near where he was born and raised in Southern Colorado.

Many thanks to Jerry Hurt, a 14th generation Hurt, for submitting this biography of his father, whom he considered his best friend.
