“I am the webmaster for a site devoted to the 6th Armored Division, which fought in Europe in WW II. I was recently contacted by a German family trying to locate a 6th AD soldier named Joseph Hurt who befriended the family during the American occupation of Apolda during April – June 1945. About all they know is his name, and they believe he was from Buffalo, NY, although I have found a reference to one Joe Hurt who had an Akron address. They also have an old photograph of this Joseph Hurt and his father, apparently taken before he went overseas in WW II with the 6th Armored Division. Location may be Buffalo, NY, or possibly Akron, OH.
I found no reference in your pages to this branch, but I was wondering if by any chance you are aware of any Hurts in the NY or Ohio area around WW II. If not, could you place this request on your queries page? Any information would be greatly appreciated. My web page is at http://members.aol.com/super6th and it includes a personal page which explains how I fell into this area of research. Thanks in advance, Bruce Frederick, bfrederi@world.std.com.”
