My Smith line starts in Culpeper, Virginia, with John Douglas Smith (parents unknown) who moved to Tennessee and then Mississippi. There his descendants mostly lived in the Hemingway, Carroll County, MS, area.

Do you have any information on the Hemingway Community in Carroll County, MS.? Specifically the location of post office, school and Hemingway Cemetery. Would love to have any information and pictures.

John Douglas Smith died in 1888 and Mary Frances died in 1876.
James Henry Smith died in 1896 and Mary Jane “Molly” was born in 1823 and died in 1876.

Hi Cousin.
My Grandfather was William James brother of Charles McCellan.
Just a couple corrections to your Descendent Tree.
1) John Douglas was born in 1802.
2) James Henry was born in Paris, Tennessee in Henry County.
Also, if you look up New Hope and Rosehill Cemeteries in Carroll County, MS you will find pictures of the headstones of some of our Descendants.
My brother Clinton who has responded, has done extensive research on the McClellan clan.
