Do you have the ‘true’ story of how Cavanagh>Kavanagh>Kavanaugh>Kavenaugh – and into the Fay family history?
I heard that Frank L Fay was born Kavenaugh (dad’s spelling on my birth certificate) and ‘took’ his step father’s name because Kavenaugh / Cavanagh was ‘shanty’ irish, but Fay was more aristocratic – putting him in better company to situate himself as a young budding entrepreneur / man of action (my words).
